XPERIMUS ENSEMBLE PRESENTS “DOUBLE” AT COIMBRA MUSIC CONSERVATORY - PORTUGUESE PREMIERE OF STEVE REICH’S “QUARTET” PLUS WORKS BY IGOR C. SILVA, JOSÉ ALBERTO GOMES AND ANTÓNIO PINHO VARGAS.

“Double” is an Xperimus Ensemble project that integrates works for two pianists and two percussionists, including repertoire of “conventional” musical notation, as well as works exploring experimental practices, multimedia (video and electronics), extended techniques, and free improvisation. It is intended not only to provide a comprehensive and contrasting view of creations dedicated to this instrumental formation, with a particular focus on Portuguese creation, but also to explore the symmetries underlying the formation itself (hence the designation “Double”) and its creative impact.

Luís Bittencourt and Helena Marinho will perform Constança Capdeville’s Avec Picasso Ce Matin for piano and percussion at the IV INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY PIANO MEETING, hosted by ESMAE, Porto, Portugal.
